The Most Delicious French Toast

So…. let me start by saying, I am HORRIBLE at photographing food! But don’t let that scare you away from the deliciousness of this make-ahead dish!! Not only is the dish DELICIOUS, but it is also easy to make and can be made ahead – all wins in my book! I first made this 4 years ago when I hosted my sister and brothers for Christmas because my parents were in Hawaii for their 35th wedding anniversary! Everyone loved it! And every year for Christmas with my family, it is always a hit.

You can make any French toast batter mix you want, but I will list what I did below.

Here is what you need:

5 eggs, lightly beaten

2 cups of any type of milk (Almond, regular, cream, half & half, etc.)

1 teaspoon vanilla

1 loaf of French bread cut in about 1 inch slices

1/2 cup melted butter

1 cup brown sugar

2 tablespoons maple syrup

1 cup chopped pecans

Here’s what to do:

In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, and vanilla. Dip bread in the egg mixture and place in a lightly greased 9 x 13 baking pan. Refrigerate overnight.

The next morning, preheat oven to 350 degrees. Combine butter, brown sugar, and maple syrup. Drizzle over the bread. Sprinkle the chopped pecans on top.

Bake in oven until golden – this takes about 40 minutes.

Enjoy!!
