In honor of Mother’s Day, here are the top ten things to know about my mom!

10. She is so patient!

Yes, this totally comes with being a teacher, but my mom is incredibly patient! Even when many would lose  their cool, my mom somehow remains calm.

9. She doesn’t like to shop!

Crazy, right?!? While you would think I get my shopping gene (that’s totally a thing!) from my mom, my mom actually doesn’t like shopping!

8. She always goes the extra mile!

I am lucky enough to live about 10 minutes away from my parents! Every other weekend, they take our kids for a night! Brit and I always love spending a little quality time with just the two of us! Not only does my mom take the kids, but she ALWAYS washes the kids clothes and sends them home with a backpack of clean clothes!

7. She grew up in Tennessee!

My mom grew up in a small town in Tennessee and actually lived on a mountain! Some people say when they talk to her, they can still hear a slight Southern accent!

6. She was a stay at home mom for a while!

After I was born, my mom took a pause on teaching. She didn’t return to teaching until my youngest brother was in school.

5. She is a wonderful example of a wife!

My parents are going on almost 40 years of marriage! They still say “I love you”, hold hands occasionally, and genuinely love each other.

4. She loves her family!

My mom is always making sure that our family gets together for family lunches at least once a month! She is a big part of the reason we are all so close!

3. My mom is a talker!

No matter where we go, Mom can strike up a conversation with anyone and make them feel like a friend! Our favorite story to tell about this is when my grandpa was in the hospital and Mom was in the waiting room. It was in the middle of the night and Mom started talking to a woman who was also in the waiting room. This lady was not in the mood to talk and rather than talk back to Mom, she got up and left the room without a word! We still tease my mom about this!

2. My mom is my biggest supporter (next to Briton!)!

I have now been blogging for about one year and throughout this entire journey, my mom is my cheerleader every step of the way. She is constantly telling me how proud she is of me!

1. Her faith is strong!

Like any family, our family has had its share of hardships. Yet no matter the situation, my mom’s faith in God has remained constant. She is always saying that she knows God will provide. Although we never had a lot of money growing up with two teachers’ incomes, I never remember needing anything. Somehow, even with four kids, my mom (and dad) found a way to always provide what we needed.

Mother’s Day sure is a great day to appreciate those moms in our lives just a little bit more than normal! This year, get your mom a little something that sparkles!
