I remember watching an episode of Oprah many years ago! She talked about asking yourself three questions before deciding to purchase or keep an article of clothing!
Now Briton likes to throw in the question, “How much does it cost?” but I told him he can’t do that! Ha! Oprah said that if you can’t answer “yes” to each of those three questions, the item is not for you! Whether you are going through your closet and purging or in a dressing room trying to find a “just right” piece, these questions should drive you to action! I am excited to be partnering with Nordstrom to bring you ten tips and tricks to help you look and feel your best!
Style Tip #1: Add a Belt
Adding a belt to any loose fitting dress or top, can help your look be more put together and give the illusion of a smaller waist.
Fit Tip: I sized down one size to XS in the dress. Everything else is true to size.

Style Tip #2: Add a Front Knot
This is the exact same outfit, but you can see that by adding a knot, my waist appears smaller and my outfit looks more put together!
Fit Tip: I sized down one size to XS in the top and like the fit much better!

Style Tip #3: Add a Nude Wedge or Heel
Adding a wedge or heel to your outfit makes you appear taller and slimmer. (Who doesn’t want that?!) When you choose a wedge or heel that is close to the color of your skin, it also gives the illusion of longer legs! I find that I stand up a little straighter and tuck my stomach in a little more when I wear a heel over a flat!
Fit Tip: I would suggest sizing up in this dress. I am wearing a small, but I would be way more comfortable in the medium.

Style Tip #4: Don’t Sweat the Size
My closet is full of different sizes of clothing! And while typically I am a size small or 4, that is not always the case! And here’s the thing…. a size small or 4 doesn’t always fit. AND THAT’S OKAY!!!!! Sometimes I have to size down, and sometimes I have to size up. Not every brand runs the same. And if you always order the size you typically wear, you will be left with clothes sometimes that don’t fit you well! Items that are too tight or too loose do not look good compared to an item that fits just right. This dress in a small DID NOT FIT! I couldn’t zip it without being squeezed way too much! But when I sized up, the fit was perfect! So if you are concerned about sizing up to make an item fit you better, DON’T BE!!! Cut out the tag if it bothers you! No one sees the size except you! This dress is a favorite of mine even though I have to size up one size to fit into it!
Fit Tip: Size up in this dress. I am wearing the M in the dress that actually fits.

Style Tip #5: Balance Out the Top & the Bottom
Flared jeans are making a comeback! I was slow to get on the train, but I am totally loving them now! I think the trick to making them look the best is to pair them with a more form fitting top rather than a flowier top! While both tops look cute, the tighter top tucked in makes you look slimmer! I also think it makes you appear taller!
Fit Tip: Both tops runs slightly large. I would suggest sizing down one size in each.

Style Tip #6: Tuck in Your Top
With high waisted bottoms being so in style right now, the right top is important can help you look chic! This cami is great for summer! I would suggest tucking it in to your high waisted pants to help create the illusion of a smaller waist.
Fit Tip: Size down if in between in the cami. Everything else is true to size. Wearing an XS in the cami and small in the pants.

Style Tip #7: Roll Up Your Sleeves
This seems like a silly tip, right?! But rolling your sleeves makes the top look a little more tailored to you! I wear this chambray top all year long!
Fit Tip: I sized up one size to a 6 in the chambray top.

Style Tip #8: Roll Your Jeans
I am only 5’5″, so most jeans I order in regular sizing are too long. You have a couple of options on how to make them more tailored to your legs – have them professionally hemmed, cut them yourself if it is a raw hem, or cuff your jeans to make them the right length. Cuffing your jeans is the easiest and least expensive method to make the jeans the right length. They should hit right below your ankles and at the top of your shoes.
Fit Tip: Size down in both the top and jeans. Wearing an XS in the top and 26 in the jeans.

Style Tip #9: Add an Accessory
Adding a fun accessory is a great way to take your outfit to a new level! These earrings are so fun for summer!
Fit Tip: Size up if in between in the dress. Wearing a small.

Style Tip #10: Wear All of the Same Color
You have probably seen the huge monochromatic trend that has been going around! There’s a reason it’s so popular – all of one color (especially black) helps you look slimmer, more put together, and taller! And these jeans are so soft and comfortable!!!
Fit Tip: I sized down one size to 26 in the jeans.
