Proverbs 19:21 Many are the plans in a man’s heart, but it is the Lord’s purpose that prevails.
My sister was diagnosed with “unknown primary” cancer in May of 2020. She fought so hard, and we made plans. “When you beat cancer, we are going to take a trip somewhere fun together.” “When you beat cancer, you can tell your story and help others.” Those were OUR plans. But God had a different purpose for Christa’s life. In her honor, I am going to make a donation to our local oncology department, and I need your help!
Christa did all the “right things”. She ate well, exercised, and took care of herself. In February, she developed a cough that wouldn’t go away. And in March, the world as we knew it shut down. Finally, at the end of March she was able to see a doctor. After many appointments and procedures, we were shocked to learn that she had Stage IV cancer. How does this happen to a healthy 35 year old?
Watching someone you love battling cancer is not something I would ever wish for another person. But through it all, I was amazed at how how strong my sister stayed right up until the end. Her strong faith, love for others, kindness towards others, and perseverance through it all will be something that will forever have an impact on my life.
Just a few short months ago on October 13, 2020, Christa went home to be with Jesus. The pain of losing her is so hard to bear some days. The heaviness on my chest makes it hard to catch a deep breath some days. And for whatever reason, the past few weeks have been especially hard.
God laid it on my heart to do something to give back in some way in honor of Christa. I am setting a big goal for myself because I believe that together we can achieve it. Yesterday, I had a phone call with the director of oncology at a local hospital. We made a plan to donate a “Cancer Care Kit” for incoming patients that were diagnosed with cancer. In this kit, we will include a cosmetic pouf, lotion, warm socks, chapstick, and mints. I will also be including my sister’s story as a dedication to her.
And this is where you come in. My goal is to raise $5000. It sounds like a big goal, but I know we will reach it (and maybe even exceed it)! Whether you donate $1 or $100, each dollar donated will be used to help someone going through the battle with cancer. I thought about creating a Go Fund Me page, but in the end, I decided that donation through Venmo would be the easiest so no fees are charged. My Venmo is @Candace-Post-1 . I am also including the QR code below. If you do not have Venmo and would like to make a donation in a different way, please email me at [email protected]

This community that we have is more than just a group of people that like to shop and find a good deal. It has become a community filled with friends. I am so grateful for your support and love that you have shown always, but I am especially grateful for the love you have shown me over the past few months.
Earlier I mentioned that we truly believed that Christa was going through this so she could share HER story. But through all of this I have learned that God wanted me to share MY story. I don’t know what you are going through. I don’t know the grief that you are carrying. But I do know, that together, we can become stronger.
In her honor and for His glory,
