How I Deal with Anxiety

If you have been following me for a while, you know that my sister, Christa, passed away this past October after a very short battle with cancer. Since then, I have struggled with some anxiety and tightness in my chest. Today, I am sharing a few things that I do that help manage my anxiety. The biggest thing that helps is getting outside. I am sharing a few of my most beloved pieces from Backcountry that help me stay warm and comfortable during the cold months!

1. Listen to an inspiring podcast or meditation music.

One of the great things about working from home is that you can work whenever you want, but the bad thing about working from home is that you can work whenever you want. When I don’t take breaks throughout my day, my anxiety and tightness in my chest always get worse. Most days, I set the timer on my phone to remind myself to take a break. I bust out a warm jacket, throw on some leggings and sneakers, pop in my ear buds, and head outside. Taking a few moments when I don’t worry about work, laundry, cooking, and more, is one of the ways I am able to relax more.

2. Get outside and get moving.

Yep! Some days I would rather just stay in bed or on the couch curled up under a blanket. But I never, ever regret getting outside and moving. Creating more endorphins always helps improve my mood.

3. Take ten deep breaths.

There are so many benefits of deep breathing – decreases stress, increases energy, relieves pain, improves immunity, and more! Getting fresh air in my lungs is another way I have found helps with my anxiety and tightness in my chest.
